5 Easy Ways to Combat Fine Lines & Wrinkles

四月 9, 2020

How young is considered too young to start an anti-ageing skincare routine?

In the past, women seemed to hold off skincare until they reach their 30s. It is when their skin enters the ageing cycle and starts to show initial signs of ageing like fine lines and wrinkles, among others.

These days, however, even teenagers are starting to obsess about skincare and anti-ageing, and are turning to treatments like lasers for pigmentation removal among others. This is a good thing because while it’s true that the first signs of ageing show up when you reach 30—mild brown spots, fine lines and wrinkles, dull and sallow skin—these changes are often the cumulative effect of the damage caused to your skin in your younger years. All these are bound to show up in your 30s when the reparative abilities of your skin begin to weaken and can no longer hold them off.

It goes to show that taking early action can have a significant impact on your skin. Be proactive with your skincare, so you don’t have to react to skin conditions showing up later in life. All you need are prevention and protection protocols, and a little help from science.

Laser for Pigmentation Removal

Laser treatments for pigmentation are widely available in Singapore. These are designed to treat age spots and freckles that develop as we age and due to excessive sun exposure.

A series of appropriate treatments can help lighten, if not completely remove pigmentation with minimal downtime or discomfort.

Another option to laser pigmentation removal is the Revlite Laser—a non-invasive treatment that removes brown age spots, freckles, melasma, and lentigo, among others. It also helps boost collagen production, resulting in the minimised appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Healthsprings Glow Cream can help you to lighten scars blemishes and pigmentation too.

Healthsprings skincare range is now available on Shopee and products can be delivered straight to your doorstep.

What follows are some of the practical steps you can take to combat wrinkly skin:

5 Ways to Reduce and Prevent Fine Lines & Wrinkles

  1. Quit Smoking

It’s never easy, but knowing that cigarette smoke can cause wrinkles should at least make you think twice about smoking. The smoke damages your collagen—the protein that gives your skin its volume and elasticity; the nicotine in cigarettes, on the other hand, causes your blood vessels to constrict, limiting the amount of oxygen and nutrients that get to your skin.

  1. Eat Vitamin & Antioxidant-Rich Food

As the old saying goes, “you are what you eat,” and in terms of how your skin ages, this is particularly true. Several studies show that foods that are high in vitamins and antioxidant content can help reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. These include citrus fruits, berries, prunes, nuts, and oily fish with high omega-3 fatty acid content.

  1. Stay Hydrated

Your body requires water for almost every function. It uses water to flush out toxins from your system, regulate your body temperature and keep your skin hydrated from the inside. If possible, drink two litres of water a day or more, as necessary.

  1. Protect Yourself from the Sun

As earlier mentioned, overexposure to the sun can damage your skin, resulting in premature ageing and wrinkles. Apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 when you head out. For added protection, avoid going outside between 10 am and 2 pm when the sun is at its peak, and wear a wide brim hat and sunglasses with UV protection.

  1. Love Your Skin

Giving your skin the love it deserves is summed up in the following steps:

— Wear moisturisers

— Be gentle on your skin

— Get enough sleep, and

— Try sleeping on your back.

As it turns out, your sleeping position could also contribute to your dreaded wrinkles. For instance, you can get wrinkles on your cheek when you sleep on your side and your forehead if you sleep face-down.

Never Too Late to Prevent Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Even when you’re already showing signs of premature skin ageing, you can still benefit from taking these steps and particularly from undergoing laser for pigmentation removal. If fine lines and wrinkly skin bother you, you can consult a dermatologist to assess the right course of treatment for you.

At Healthsprings Group, we offer a range of non-invasive procedures for smoothing out wrinkles, tightening skin, and improving your overall skin condition.
