It’s a brand new year (Year of the Tiger) and here comes one of our most looking forward event – Chinese new year. Also known as Lunar New Year, it is a 15-day Chinese Celebratory festival that is celebrated annually. We enjoy the visiting and feasting during this period, however, the Singapore Government stated that the COVID-19 restrictions will remain the same due to the Omicron surge.
As of 21 January 2022, there are 1472 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 1001 Omicron infections in Singapore, with weekly infection growth rates. This is why the Singapore Government continues with the current COVID-19 restrictions, to ensure that the healthcare system will not be overwhelmed with the next wave of infection caused by the new coronavirus strain – Omicron.
“We believe these safe management measures are important and appropriate and so, we will try out best to ride through the upcoming wave of Omicron infections with our current safe management measure posture” said by Finance Minister Lawrence Wong, Co-Chair of the National COVID-19 task force.
Here are some tips to keep you and your loved ones safe this Chinese New Year.
When dining out, kindly take note that there should not be more than 5 pax/table.
When doing house visiting, kindly take note that there should only be 5 unique visitors per household per day and individuals should limit themselves to not more than 2 household visits per day.
