Vaginal laxity refers to a “looseness” that occurs in the vagina. This is a common condition faced by women due to ageing and vaginal childbirth.
It leads to a loss of strength and flexibility within the vaginal wall. As a result, women may experience vaginal, pelvic, sexual and urinary symptoms that affect their quality of life.

Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome
Vaginal relaxation syndrome is defined as the increase in the diameter of the vaginal wall. It can result in loss of friction and of sexual satisfaction for both a woman and her partner.
CAUSES
Vaginal laxity is more likely to occur when bearing more than one child, having a large baby, undergoing a forceps delivery and normal ageing.

Pregnancy & Natural Birth
Pregnancy and vaginal delivery can lead to trauma and stretching, which can result in loss of vaginal tightness. As the baby passes through the birth canal, the underlying dermal tissue tears and overly stretches. The vagina loses its resilience and the gradual increase in skin surface prevents the vaginal skin from going back to its original size and shape.
Aging & Menopause
Vaginal laxity is a normal part of ageing and associated with menopause. Women with vaginal laxity may suffer from urinary incontinence and poor control of stool. Some often feel less sensation during intercourse, leading to loss of sexual desire and poor body image. In more advanced stages, if left untreated, it may lead to pelvic organ prolapse (prolapse of any of the four organs inside the pelvic cavity, namely the uterus, bladder, bowel or vagina).
Vaginoplasty V.S. Non-Surgical Laser Treatment for Vaginal Rejuvenation
More woman is opting to rejuvenate their vagina for better vaginal health and intimate lives.
Vaginoplasty is a reconstructive surgical procedure to repair the vagina. However, not all women are suitable to undergo these treatments.
Vaginal laser procedures is a non-surgical and non-invasive way to rejuvenate the vagina. This lunchtime procedure works by stimulating collagen – which is the protein responsible for keeping the skin elastic – to restore elasticity and tightens the vaginal canal.
At Healthsprings, we offer a Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation trial at $998 done by an experienced MOH-accredited female doctor.
