What is HPV?

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a prevalent virus that can lead to various types of cancer and other diseases in both men and women. HPV is transmitted through intimate skin-to-skin contact, and most sexually active individuals will contract HPV at some point in their lives without even knowing it.

What is HPV Vaccine (9-Valent)?

9-Valent vaccine provides protection against 9 strains of HPV. It helps prevent:

  • Cervical, vulvar, vaginal, anal, some head and neck cancers caused by HPV types 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58.
  • Genital warts caused by HPV types 6 and 11.

Who Should Get the 9-Valent HPV Vaccine?

The 9-Valent HPV vaccine is recommended for:

  • Females and males aged 9 to 26 years old, especially those who have not been exposed to the HPV strains covered by the vaccine and are sexually active.
  • Males, as they may still be susceptible to cancer caused by the HPV infection.

If you are over 26 years old and interested in the HPV vaccination, our doctor will assess your suitability and provide guidance.

It is safe to receive the vaccine after age 26. While the effectiveness may be slightly lower due to potential prior exposure to HPV, the vaccine can still offer protection against HPV-related cancers and genital warts.
