While Singapore is taking active steps to prepare for Covid-19 being endemic in Singapore, they are also planning to bring in the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine, which will soon be made available in several private clinics and other vaccination clinics in Singapore, and an official announcement will be released at a later date.
The vaccine is ready for importation under the Special Access Route framework, which is consented under HSA. This is an alternative vaccine option (being the fourth one) for individuals in Singapore who have not taken the COVID-19 vaccine. However, these vaccines are not subsidised by the Government and is not covered under the Vaccine Injury Financial Assistance Programme – where individuals can get help from if they suffer adverse effects from their Covid-19 jabs.
The Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine uses an inactivated form of the coronavirus, which is something like the Sinovac shot. Individuals aged 18 and above will be given 2 doses with 3 to 4 weeks apart.

On 26 October 2021, MOH recommends Sinopharm as a 3-dose Primary Series. There has been evidence that antibody levels from the Sinopharm vaccine similarly decline after two doses, and a third dose of the vaccine increases the antibody by several folds.
People who receive Sinopharm under the Special Access Route (SAR) are therefore advised to receive a third dose of vaccine as a primary series. The third dose should be taken 90 days after the second dose. People who receive Sinopharm will only be considered fully vaccinated after completing the 3-dose primary series.

NEW UPDATE: Those who are taking or planning to take the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines as part of the Special Access Route (SAR) are recommended to take a third dose of vaccination, according to MOH advisory. Do note that if you are vaccinated with Sinopharm, you have to complete 3 doses to be considered FULLY VACCINATED. Also, the 3rd dose should be only be taken 90 days after your second dose.
