Asymptomatic case of COVID-19

An asymptomatic case of an individual refers to someone who has no symptoms during the complete course of infection.

1. If the result is positive, you will have to:

• Self-isolate at home and monitor your health for 72 hours, PCR testing will not be needed.
• Minimise contact with household members.
• Repeat ART at least one day apart.
• Once the result is negative, you will be able to stop self-isolation.

1. In the case that your result is positive, PCR will not be needed unless you:

• Have symptoms of acute respiratory infection.
• Received Quarantine Order (QO), Stay Home Notice (SHN) or Health Risk Warning (HRW).
• Work in healthcare, pre-school or primary schools.
• Students in pre-school or primary school.
• Above 80 years old.

1. If household and workplace members are exposed to individuals with positive results, they will have to:

• Take ART within 24 hours,
• monitor health for 10 full days while limiting social interactions
• Attempt regular ART especially before meeting vulnerable or large numbers of people.

To keep vulnerable persons such as elderly safe, those who are tested positive should avoid any interactions and practice safety precautions e.g. wear masks.
