Singapore is the first Asian country to receive Pfizer’s new pneumococcal vaccine (PCV20), which offers a wider range of protection against bacterial strains responsible for pneumococcal disease than the two that are now in use – PCV13 and PPSV23.
The Singapore Government provides subsidies for pneumococcal vaccination for children and seniors in Singapore. The vaccines offer protection against the common strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria.

Associate Professor Lim Poh Lian, who heads the Travellers’ Health and Vaccination Clinic at
Tan Tock Seng Hospital and is also a senior consultant at the National Centre for Infectious
Diseases, said: “For those who have not had the PCV13 and PPSV23 combination yet, having
a single dose of PCV20 greatly simplifies the vaccination regimen for patients and families.
Instead of trying to sequence two vaccines with all the other health visits, this vaccine
allows them to just get ‘one and done’.”
We now have the new pneumococcal vaccine (PCV20), you may contact our respective clinics for more information. For other medical-related enquries, you may also drop us a call or email us at enquiry@healthsprings.com.sg, thank you.
