It is well-known that patients who have pre-existing medical conditions, or are older, the mortality rate is much higher.
COVID-19 can result in severe disease among persons of all ages, and there is no proven treatment for COVID-19.
If you are young, you are more likely to recover as compared to someone older.
However, there have also been many cases of people younger than 45 years of age who require ICU admission and some who eventually pass away. In the UK, the youngest cases to die of COVID-19 are a 5-year-old and a 13-year-old.
Furthermore, if you are infected, there is a high chance that you will spread the virus to your loved ones.

A young and fit costume designer from the USA shares his experience on the illness:
“High temperature, severe chills, sweating, body aches, terrible headache… After the fifth day I went to urgent care. I was shaking and felt like I was dying… After 4 days I got my test result back that I am positive. I still have the same symptoms with no progress, but I started developing pneumonia and can’t breathe normally… it was followed by coughing blood…”
COVID-19 is highly contagious and can infect anyone, regardless of age.
Research has increasingly shown that the virus can be spread from infected individuals 1-3 days before any symptoms develop.
There are also infected individuals who do not develop any symptoms but still spread the virus.
This is why the circuit breaker is so important. Minimising contact with others outside of your household reduces the chance of COVID-19 spreading from asymptomatic cases.
It is spread through respiratory droplets (from coughing, sneezing, and even talking), and contact with surfaces or objects where these droplets have landed.
Therefore, you must wash or sanitise your hands frequently, avoid touching your face, and wear a mask when you go out.
It is also highly recommended that you clean the things that you touch often – such as your handphone, wallet, and keys.
Let us take extra precautions and stay at home to stop the spread of COVID-19.
