From Feb 14, 2022, a booster shot will be needed for those who are aged 18 and above within 270 days of the last vaccine dose taken to maintain a fully vaccinated status against Covid-19, announced by MOH.
If you have taken your last dose of vaccine before May 20, 2021 and have not taken a booster shot within 270 days – before Feb 14, your full vaccination status will be removed. You will have to take the booster shot to be deemed as fully vaccinated again.
Those who have not reached the nine month expiry by then, or who are medically unfit for boosters, will not be affected.
We are recommended to take our booster shots from around five months after our last dose of vaccine to have better protection against Covid-19, especially with the new Omicron variant that appeared recently.
As for those who have recovered from Covid-19 and were fully vaccinated, they are not required to get an additional booster dose. On other hand, those who were unvaccinated or partially vaccinated before their infection, will be required to take one dose of the mRNA vaccine at least three months after the infection to be considered as fully vaccinated.
For recovered individuals who have received a mixed vaccine combination of Sinovac-CoronaVac or Sinopharm vaccines, they are to take two doses. So, those recovered people who have completed their vaccination requirement, the 270 days vaccination validity will not be applied to them.
